I don’t often write about movies — they’re often a “that’s nice” experience for me, one that I enjoy but not something that sticks or evokes something powerful enough to make me want to write about it.
There are exceptions though — even if they were unexpected and more to do with the context than the content.
As an unabashed musical theatre geek, I wasn’t going to miss seeing one of the greatest shows of the 20th century in theatres — and it was good enough that they’re going to get free marketing from me about it!
The movie is based off the musical, which in turn is based off the book of the same name, which in turn is a re-interpretation of the original Wizard of Oz movie and book. For those of you who haven’t seen the movie or musical, or read the book by Gregory Maguire I won’t spoil…
